Cottrell Park Golf Resort
Description
The historic parkland of Cottrell Park is set in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan and it is an idyllic setting for a golfing venue. Cottrell is very conveniently located, being only a few miles from Cardiff and it's International Airport. The beautiful parkland covers over 400 acres and offers breathtaking views sweeping northwards as far as the Brecon Beacons and southwards over the Bristol Channel to the Mendips.
During the past centuries, several families who have played important roles in the history of Great Britain and North America resided at Cottrell, including the Merricks, the Buttons, the Gwinnetts, and the Tylers, and the Mackintosh of Mackintosh. A notable member of the Gwinnett family was Button Gwinnett, who was one of the fifty-six men that assembled at Philadelphia in 1776 to sign the Declaration of Independence and examples of his signature have been sold for $150,000, making it one of the most valuable in the world.
The golfing facilities include two magnificent Championship Golf Courses, the Mackintosh, (6,529 yards off the blue tees), and the Button Gwinnett, (6183 yards off the white tees), as well as an all weather floodlit driving range, putting greens and golf practice areas.
The Clubhouse, with its exposed beams and flagstones, has a rustic but cosy feel to it. The friendly and comfortable atmosphere helps you to relax after a hard day's work or play and there is an extensive bar menu available throughout the day. The Clubhouse also boasts several rooms that can be set-up in a wide variety of styles, for conferences and meetings.
